Alternativas para desarrollar por completo un Hedge Fund Dados los requisitos para la inscripción y la cantidad de información necesaria para su divulgación, no es sorprendente que muchos directores de Hedge Funds abandonen nada más comenzar el proceso debido estas exigencias potencialmente onerosas. A este respecto, puede crearse una “incubadora” del Hedge Fund dividiendo el proceso de desarrollo en dos etapas. Uno de los problemas de la opción ”incubadora” es que el Director del Fondo no puede ser compensado por sus actividades en la compraventa de instrumentos financieros. De este modo, la aceptación de fondos externos, aunque permitido, expone al Director a obligaciones fiduciarias por las que no puede ser remunerado. Si se aceptan fondos externos, es necesario desarrollar una cuidadosa planificación con el fin de evitar potenciales problemas legales.
